More about Colegio Estrella Toledano
Since 2017, Estrella Toledano School has been an International Baccalaureate certified school. It offers the Baccalaureate Program, which emphasises inquiry-based learning and inter and trans-disciplinary approaches. Teachers all undertake training in IB methodologies so as to be current with what is recognised as best educational practice.
Students are challenged to reach their learning potential through innovative teaching techniques, small group instruction, accelerated classes and student support. This ties in to the school’s belief that in order to obtain excellent academic results the individual potential of each student must be developed.
Further, the students benefit from the cognitive advantages of early simultaneous exposure to the complications of Germanic, Romantic, and Semitic language structures. The School boasts a Bilingual certification from the regional Department of Education and adheres to official external regulators such as Trinity College London and the University of Cambridge. From the very earliest stages students are taught simultaneously in Spanish, English and Hebrew. French is added to the core curriculum from the 7th grade.
Every year an amazing and challenging day for maths takes place at the school. All students, from 5 years old to 18 make games and competitions.
For this project, students from 6th grade work throughout the year developing an Entrepreneurship Project with a social component. The projects compete in Expo Kids, a Fair organised by the Create Foundation in which schools from all over Spain participate.
A key mission of the school is to Preserve in its students the heritage and traditions of the Jewish people.
The Colegio Estrella Toledano school considers Jewish education to be the principle masthead of their academic offer. Jewish identity is promoted by weaving the moral values and traditions of Judaism into daily academic life while fostering a lasting relationship with the language, culture and land of Israel through the curriculum.
Jewish Education Projects
The "Shorashim" Project, linked to the Education Department of the Beit Hatfutsot Museum of Diaspora, is already traditional at Estrella Toledano. Each year, students have the opportunity to investigate their family and community roots. Roots that bring back the richness of our collective history, which is nurtured in the present through school activity and study. The project encourages students to know how to continue with their Jewish life in the near future and to be part of the chain of generations.
The Jidon Hatzionut is contest that aims to stimulate the study of issues related to Israel, Zionism and Judaism, in order to achieve greater knowledge and understanding of the Jewish reality. The winners are awarded a ticket to Israel donated by EL AL.
Already traditional at the school, every year during the feast of Hanuka, "Las Janukiadas" takes place. This is a sports and cultural competition in which all the students are divided into three teams: Carmel, Galil and Kineret. They compete, play and have fun defending their team.
Trip to Israel
Students from the 10th grade travel every year to Israel for an exciting experience in Israel.
Acknowledging that the integration of Information and Communications Technologies in today’s learning environment is essential for 21st Century learners, the Estrella Toledano school is equipped with Smart Boards, Robotics labs, a proprietary education portal and iPads. Professionally designed environments which make use of business programs including Adobe Suite, Macromedia Flash, Dreamweaver, Visual Basic, 3D Studio Max and more are also incorporated in to study.
