STEM Communication Award

An annual series of prizes rewarding ORT students from all over the world for producing outstanding video presentations explaining STEM topics clearly and skilfully to a non-specialist audience.

This prize will encourage students to develop a deeper understanding of their subject by explaining complex ideas to a non-scientific audience. The process of planning and developing their ideas into well-structured presentations will give students experience in scientific research, public speaking, collaborative work and challenges them to express their creativity in a STEM context.

All applications will be judged by a panel of educators and researchers, including representatives of World ORT’s Academic Advisory Council, and non-STEM professionals who will rate the videos according to the students’ communication skills, the quality and accuracy of the STEM content, their ability to share their passion for STEM and serve as role models for other students.

All work submitted should be original and students are encouraged to present their topics creatively. Guidelines will be provided to explain how to acknowledge sources of information and cite references appropriately.

Prizes will be awarded in two age categories: 14-16 years and 17-19 years. Each age category will have an overall winner, awards for second and third places, and four awards for runners-up.

This year's winners and their videos can be found on the World ORT Website
