ORT South Africa

Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon that you can use to change the world.” ORT’s vision of “Educating for Life” strives to empower South Africans through education, training and support for teachers, pupils and entrepreneurs in business, to change South Africa and eradicate poverty.

ORT SA was established in 1936 as a fundraising entity. From 1936 to 1994 the organisation existed to raise funds for various ORT causes.  With the change of national government in 1994, ORT SA became an operational organisation and began to implement various educational programs within South Africa with the funding it raised.
