Shifman Junior High and Shifman High School have a combined enrolment of 1,000 students. The majority come from deprived backgrounds, and the school has a relatively high dropout rate, which it is working hard to redress. Students at Shifman may choose from five different study tracks: academic, electronics, tourism, hotel management and administration and economics. The high school also offers a special science track which provides extra classes and activities for 25 of the top students who show signs of promise.
