Tefen Regional Junior High & High School was founded in 1991 by a group of Western Galilee parents seeking to create an alternative educational system for their children. The school comprises a junior high school and senior high school and is representative of those on the peripheries of Israeli society: it is based in the far north of the country, close to the Lebanese border, and caters in large part to minority groups. The student population totals 280 students and includes students from Jewish, Arab and Druze families. 35% of the student body has learning difficulties and/or physical impairments.
