Or Avner and Hana Jewish School, Tbilisi
Founded in 2005 by Rabbi Meir and Tzipora Kozlovsky of the Chabad movement in Georgia, the Or Avner and Hana Jewish School is a private educational institution under the Georgian Ministry of Education. Though it holds a formal license, the School is not state-recognized due to its integration of Hebrew and Jewish studies.
The School became affiliated with the ORT Ukraine network in 2024 and now serves as a central hub of Jewish education in Georgia. Operating from a modern campus in the Ortachala district of Tbilisi since 2019, the School currently educates 140 students in its general program and 57 children in preschool. A new kindergarten facility for 90 children is set to open in 2025.

Curriculum & Academic Life
The School follows the national Georgian curriculum, awarding local completion certificates, while its Jewish studies are supervised by the Israeli Ministry of Education. Hebrew is taught alongside core academic subjects, with a strong focus on English, STEM, and technology disciplines.
Computer science and technology classes are held twice a week, covering:
- Programming
- Robotics
- Engineering
- Arduino and Micro:bit
- Electrical circuit design
In addition to traditional academic coursework, students benefit from extracurricular courses in logic, science, and art.

The School is active in extracurricular competitions and has achieved national and international recognition:
- Finalist in Georgia’s National STEAM Competition
- Top 10 placement in the USAID-backed Leonardo da Vinci competition
Students also participate in lectures and seminars co-organized with 5 Georgian universities and 15 educational institutions, focusing on fields such as journalism, law, psychology, and business. The School is also known for initiating impactful social projects, such as the Georgian-Jewish Friendship Alley.

The School is committed to educational innovation and the expansion of STEM instruction. It is equipped with:

Planned improvements include the introduction of new robotics and programming courses and further development of international partnerships.

Jewish Experience
Jewish education is central to the School’s mission. Students celebrate major Jewish holidays together with their families and community members. Daily prayers are held in the School’s synagogue, and instruction covers Jewish traditions, history, and the Hebrew language.
The School also participates in international Jewish education programs, including the Heftsiba network and Heftsiba Olympics, deepening students’ connection to global Jewish life.
