Architecture Undergraduate

Architects design and build new buildings, restore and restructure old buildings and design outdoor spaces.

This degree course prepares graduates for a professional career in the field, covering technical, cultural, artistic, social and economic aspects. The curriculum includes courses, seminars and workshops in three academic areas: design, technology, and social science and humanities. 

Design - topics covered include: Architectural and Urban Projects, Drawing, Applied Informatics, Environmental Management.

Technology - topics covered include: Technology and Construction Procedures, Facilities and Amenities, Structures, Project Management, Professional Practice.

Social Science andHumanities - topics covered include: Writing, Urban Theory and Architectural Practice, Critical Analysis of Architecture, History of Western Architecture and Regional Development.

Students also undertake a range of elective courses, and the course culminates in the preparation and presentation of an architectural project. The School of Architecture encourages its students to participate in student exchanges and internships that allow them to gain work experience during their studies. Graduates of this program are admitted as members of the Society of Architects of Uruguay (SAU).
