BA in Animation and Videogame Design

The BA in Animation and Videogame Design is aimed at students with a strong interest in games and the creation of animated cartoons.

In addition to learning about game development and animation, graduates of this program are equipped to perform tasks in a variety of areas, such as design, web programming and digital art. This is by virtue of the multidisciplinary technical and artistic education provided by the curriculum.

The curriculum covers the following areas:

Animation and Digital Arts - ranges from artistic exploration and painting to traditional animation, stop motion and 2D and 3D animation.

Digital Media - includes graphics, videos, animation and sound in order to meet the needs of the increasingly complex world of digital entertainment.

Game Design - introduces tools for game design, game narrative, game architecture and the design of characters and environments.

Programming Technologies - introduces techniques for creating the interactive systems used in video games.

Students carry out projects beginning with the identification and evaluation of ideas, the creation of design concepts, the critical analysis of existing and potential products and the analysis of cultural impact and industry trends. They go on to create their own animations, games and interactions, and then deliver a final product.

Graduates of this program are professionals who dominate the formal and technological aspects of animation and video games, and are able to optimize the processes of creation, presentation and documentation. They are able to propose and manage innovative projects at both artistic and commercial levels.

At the end of the second year students are asked to develop an animation project that synthesizes all aspects of production, from the concept to direction and post-production. Upon conclusion of this project they obtain the intermediate degree of animation technician, which enables them to carry out professional animation projects, such as advertisements or fictional films for TV, cinema and the internet.
